Twelve-year-old George breaks the head off a dragon sculpture outside the Natural History Museum in an act of rebellion and soon discovers, to his dismay, that he has reawakened the war between the statues of London.

Having upset the balance between the warring statues of London, twelve-year-old George is confronted with new challenges as he tries to free his captured friends Edie and The Gunner from the formidable Walker and deal with the three strange veins of marble, bronze, and stone that have begun to grow out of his hand.

As the war between statues and gargoyles continues to rage throughout London, Edie resolves to get her revenge on the Walker, who nearly killed her the last time they met.

Twelve-year-old George Chapman and his friend Edie, the only humans who did not disappear from London when time froze, move toward a final confrontation with the Walker, a murderous immortal that has aligned itself with the forces of evil in the battle between the city's statues and gargoyles.
